The on-site exchange meeting on the experience of coordinated development of the steel structure construction industry chain in 2025 was held at Sinosteel Luonai
In order to deeply summarize the excellent experience and practices of collaborative innovation, cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the steel structure construction industry chain, and focus on breakthroughs in high-strength steel application technology and the coordinated development of the industry chain, the 2025 Steel Structure Construction Industry Chain Collaborative Development Experience Exchange Conference was recently held at Zhonggang Luoyang.

At the meeting, Xia Nong, Vice President of China Iron and Steel Industry Association, Xiong Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of China Iron and Steel Luonai, and Xu Kai, Vice General Manager of Baosteel Engineering Technology Group Co., Ltd. and Chairman of Shanghai Baosteel Construction Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., delivered speeches respectively.

In his speech, Xia Nong pointed out that currently, China's steel structure construction industry has gradually entered a new stage of development driven by both policy guidance and market, starting from a focus on "policy guidance". The obvious trend in the new development stage is a significant decrease in the construction cost of steel structure buildings, a significant enhancement in market competitiveness, and a continuous increase in consumer favor. He specifically introduced that the construction project of Sinosteel Luonai New Materials R&D Center observed on site at this conference is a model of collaborative innovation in the industrial chain, as well as a turning point and milestone project in the promotion of steel structure building applications. The construction cost of this project, including the decoration of some public areas, is 3300 yuan per square meter, which is on par with the unit cost of reinforced concrete.

Xiong Jian introduced in his speech that the Sinosteel Luonai New Materials Research and Development Center building project officially started construction in January 2024, took more than a year, and successfully completed the main structure of the building in May 2025. This project has three main characteristics. Firstly, it is a high-strength steel prefabricated building, with construction and installation costs on par with reinforced concrete; Secondly, the construction speed is fast and the usage effect is very good. It not only increases the internal usage space, but also greatly beautifies the exterior of the building; Thirdly, it has strong pressure bearing capacity. The national key laboratory and testing equipment of Sinosteel Luonai have achieved "industrial upgrading", and the product interaction experience is good.

Xu Kai shared his insights on the "renewal" and "iteration" of steel structure buildings in his speech, introducing the typical case of the "scene+material+engineering" industrial high-rise of the Sinosteel Luonai New Materials Research and Development Center building project. He believes that steel structure buildings have entered a new stage of iterative and high-quality development of high-strength and high-performance steel materials. From the perspective of the entire industry chain, including architectural designers, material engineers, and construction engineers, he stated that "the iteration of steel structure buildings requires the collaborative efforts of the industry chain, proposing overall solutions, and jointly promoting the application of high-strength steel and high-performance steel in steel structure buildings." Finally, he called on the industry to pay attention to the concept of "replacing aluminum with steel" and apply it at a deeper level in the enclosure and interior systems, empowering the iterative development of steel structure buildings.
The attending representatives discussed and exchanged ideas on the key points of promoting the steel structure building technology system and products in the residential construction field, suggestions for promoting the coordinated development of the steel structure building industry chain, how design units and steel enterprises can cooperate in research and development, and how to promote the docking of upstream and downstream standards in the industry chain. They also visited the China Steel Luoyang New Materials Research and Development Center building project on site.

The Sinosteel Luonai New Materials Research and Development Center is designed and built by Baosteel Jianke, with a total construction area of 22600 square meters, 5 floors above ground, 1 floor underground, and a floor load of 500 kg to 1200 kg. It adopts a high-strength steel frame (steel tube concrete column) structural system, and the main structure uses Q460C high-strength steel, which significantly reduces the amount of steel used in traditional steel structure buildings and achieves large-scale promotion and application of high-strength steel. It has the characteristics of low cost, low noise, fast speed, high precision, and sustainability, and has good economic and social demonstration benefits, effectively promoting the progress of China's construction technology and steel material solutions.
Sinosteel Luonai will take the new material research and development center project as an opportunity to fully leverage its advantages in material research and engineering applications, continuously deepen close cooperation with upstream and downstream enterprises in the industry chain, rely on national key laboratories and other resources, build an integrated innovation platform for industry university research and application, and contribute Sinosteel Luonai's strength to creating more green, efficient, and high-quality steel structure construction projects.
