On September 25-26, the ISO/TC33 annual meeting and working group meeting were successfully held in Frankfurt, Germany. More than 20 representatives from 9 countries including China, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Austria participated, including 12 Chinese representatives, led by Wang Zhanmin, a representative of the domestic technical counterpart unit of ISO/TC33. The members of the group include Wuhan University of Science and Technology, MCC Wuhan Metallurgical Construction Research Institute Co., Ltd., MCC Jiaonai Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., China Metallurgical Group Corporation Limited, etc.

On the morning of September 25th at 10 o'clock, the ISO/TC33 working group meeting proceeded as scheduled, with each of the five working groups giving a summary report. The 27th Working Group "Testing Methods for Refractory Mud" (hereinafter referred to as WG27) and the 31st Working Group "Quantitative Phase Analysis of Residual Quartz in Silica Bricks - X-ray Diffraction Method" (hereinafter referred to as WG31) are both under the responsibility of China. The convener of WG31 is Wang Zhanmin, Deputy General Manager of China Steel Luonai Technology Co., Ltd. The project was proposed by China Steel Luoyang Refractory Materials Research Institute Co., Ltd. and China Steel Luonai Technology Co., Ltd. It was approved as a new work project in April 2022 and is planned to be completed and released in April 2025.

As of now, a total of 16 laboratories have participated in the validation experiments, including 10 domestic and 6 foreign ones; There are three production enterprises, and the rest are testing institutions or research institutions such as universities. In the report, Wang Zhanmin provided detailed and reasonable explanations for the questions raised by other members of the working group in the early stage, and introduced the main work content in the near future, which was highly recognized and acknowledged by the attending representatives. In this job;       At the group meeting, Wang Zhanmin, as the liaison officer of the International Standardization Technical Committee for Air Quality in ISO/TC146/SC2 Workplaces, introduced the current situation of the committee and analyzed and discussed the possibility of applying ISO/TC146/SC2 related standards in ISO/TC33. The ISO/TC33 annual meeting discussed all agenda items, including the current effective standard system, new proposed projects, and changes in the number of member countries.

This meeting was the first offline meeting after the COVID-19 epidemic. Representatives from all countries overcame difficulties and went to the scene to discuss the status and development of standards, making positive contributions to promoting the progress of international refractory standards. Especially for the projects managed by WG31, a domestic working group was efficiently established, and verification experiments were actively organized, resulting in sufficient and representative experimental data, laying a solid foundation for achieving ideal reproducibility and accuracy. The phased achievements of this standard project have contributed to the improvement of the international refractory material standard system.
